My Story

I grew up in Mendoza, an Argentinean province with 1.5 million inhabitants, surrounded by mountains and great wine. I had a happy childhood, with the support of a caring family. My dad was a farmer and my mom was a stay-at-home mom. I still remember spending the day at the farm and returning home covered with dust, where my mom was waiting with a delicious meal.

From an early age, I knew my future was to become a professional, and that I would also like to form a family, but I had doubts about being able to achieve both things. My mom was not a professional nor were the other women in my childhood environment. I did not have any role models to follow.

I was an avid reader during my childhood. I remember one day, I found a magazine at a waiting room that had an article about Remote Working. At that time, it was science-fiction for me, but I understood I may have a chance to achieve both goals.

I was lucky to get a technology degree in a public university, and to start my professional career surrounded by strong women. At that time, I found the role models I needed, professional moms that made me believe it was possible.

I remember when I met one of the senior developers and architects at my first tech job. She was having a tough conversation with a male partner about how to build a particular architecture for a new software product. I also remember a business analyst firmly negotiating scope with the final customer. I also recall one of the project leaders calling her husband to ask him to take care of dinner.

Then I met my handsome husband and eventually became the mother of 2 shinning kids.

Motherhood was a very moving experience, full of struggle and joy, and my professional career was pushed to the background. I had a strong identity crisis, and I lost all the confidence. It was really difficult to get back into the workforce. After feeling like I had recovered my own body, I knew I needed to work on my mind and my soul. I needed to catch up with all that happened during the hiatus.

After several years, and looking back, I am very happy with my journey.

I am a Software Engineer. I have 20 years of experience in the Software Industry. I’ve been living in Silicon Valley for more than two years now. I am a strong advocate for Women in Technology.  In 2018, I was awarded a Stevie Award as Woman of the Year in Technology and nominated for Role Model of the Year in the Woman in IT – Silicon Valley 2019. Looking for some balance, I learned about Meditation, Mindfulness, Compassion and Growth Mindset. I am also a Pastry Chef, my secret to having friends.

Currently, I hope to help professional women on their journey of becoming a mother and returning to the workforce, helping them to gain back their confidence, to set objectives, and to achieve them. I would also like to help companies enjoy the benefits of building a diverse environment.

That’s how MomsBeacon was born, which is my little grain of sand to improve quality of life for professional mothers, in the context of deep changes on Diversity and Inclusion within corporations.
